Privacy Policy
Effective August 23, 2026
indieSoccer uses account, profile, game, location, communication, and technical information to run the app. We do not sell personal information, run ads, or use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
1. Who operates indieSoccer
This Privacy Policy explains how Rush Farinella, operator of indieSoccer (“indieSoccer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, and retains information through the indieSoccer iOS app, this website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
indieSoccer is offered only in the United States and is intended only for people age 18 or older. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to info@indiesoccer.app.
2. Information we collect
Account and authentication information
We process your Firebase account identifier, Sign in with Apple information, email address when Apple makes it available, authentication provider, account dates, onboarding status, suspension or deletion status, push-notification token, and security or device-integrity signals.
Profile and social information
This includes your username, player-card images and design choices, optional selected home-state design, Elo, reliability stars, attendance and game statistics, preferred position, dominant foot, privacy setting, friends, blocks, hosts, teammates, opponents, and related social connections.
Photos and player-card assets
If you choose a photo, indieSoccer receives only the image you select. The app may create and upload rendered player-card images, a resized render source, an optional subject cutout or animation sprite, and visual settings needed to reproduce the card. Background removal is performed on your device using Apple technology.
Location information
With your permission, indieSoccer uses location to find nearby games and places, create games, enable Available Today, configure nearby-game alerts, and verify check-in near a field. Game listings contain the field’s coordinates, venue name, and address.
- Nearby discovery: your current location is used to return relevant nearby results.
- Available Today: the feature stores your precise location until its end-of-day expiration or until you turn it off. Limited daily membership records may remain for up to eight additional days for feature operation and abuse prevention.
- Nearby Game Alerts: your most recently selected alert location remains stored until you change it, disable the feature, or delete your account.
- Check-in: a recent location sample, accuracy, timestamp, and device-integrity indicators are sent to the server for verification. The game record stores the check-in time and rounded verification measurements rather than the raw check-in coordinates.
Games and activity
We process games you create, view, bookmark, request access to, join, leave, attend, check into, cancel, or report; teams and positions; game locations and times; access settings; attendance; results; Elo changes and history; reliability; teammates and opponents; comments; and related activity.
Messages, notifications, and social requests
We store direct-message text and metadata, conversation participants, friend and game-access requests, in-app notifications, notification context, read status, and delivery information. Messages do not currently have an individual delete control.
Reports and enforcement information
If you report a user or game, appeal an enforcement action, or are involved in a safety review, we may process the people and game involved, report category, description, relevant game or account context, status, moderator actions and notes, and audit history.
Technical, analytics, and diagnostic information
Our service providers may process app and device type, operating-system and app versions, network or IP-derived information, installation identifiers, feature events, performance data, security events, and crash diagnostics. indieSoccer removes account identity, message content, precise coordinates, stable object identifiers, email addresses, and similar sensitive values from the analytics events it intentionally records.
Purchases
Apple processes payment details. indieSoccer receives product and entitlement information such as product identifier, verification status, purchase, expiration or revocation dates, ownership type, and whether a transaction occurred in Apple’s test environment.
Website information
This public website does not include advertising or product-analytics code. Our hosting and network providers may still process basic request information such as IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, and security logs to deliver and protect the site.
3. How we use information
- Provide accounts, profiles, player cards, games, nearby discovery, check-in, messaging, notifications, social features, and purchases.
- Calculate and display Elo, reliability, attendance, results, and other service mechanics.
- Prevent fraud, spam, simulated check-ins, abuse, unauthorized access, and unsafe conduct.
- Review reports, moderate content, enforce our rules, and respond to legal or safety matters.
- Diagnose failures, measure feature use, secure the Service, and improve it.
- Communicate about your account, safety, privacy, purchases, and important Service changes.
4. When information is disclosed
To other users
Features display information to other players when needed for the Service. Depending on the feature and your privacy settings, this can include your username, player card, Elo, reliability, game statistics, game membership, team, position, check-in status, shared game content, social connection, and the location and time of a game.
A private-profile setting limits access to certain profile details, but it does not hide your player card or information needed to participate in games and social features. Blocking and privacy controls also have feature-specific limits.
To service providers
We use providers that process information for us, including:
- Apple for Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution and purchases, push notifications, Maps, device location and photo selection.
- Google Firebase for authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, messaging, app integrity, analytics, and crash reporting.
- Mixpanel for privacy-limited product analytics with automatic event collection and IP geolocation disabled by indieSoccer.
- GitHub Pages for public website hosting and delivery.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. You can review the privacy information published by Apple, Google, Mixpanel, and GitHub.
For legal, safety, or organizational reasons
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; protect users, the public, our rights, or the Service; investigate fraud or abuse; enforce our Terms; or support a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information, run third-party advertising, or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Location choices
Location access is optional, but nearby discovery, location alerts, game creation, Available Today, and check-in may not work without it. You can change location permission in iOS Settings, disable Nearby Game Alerts, and turn off Available Today in indieSoccer.
indieSoccer requests location only while the app is in use and does not intentionally run continuous background location updates.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, preserve game integrity and history, resolve reports and disputes, prevent abuse, comply with law, and protect users and the Service.
- Available Today precise location expires at the end of the applicable day unless you turn it off sooner; limited membership history may persist for up to eight additional days.
- Nearby Game Alert location remains until you change or disable the feature or delete your account.
- Active profiles, messages, notifications, game archives, Elo history, reports, moderation records, and appeals may remain while your account is active because the Service does not currently apply a fixed expiration period to them.
- Provider analytics, crash, security, backup, and operational logs follow the applicable provider settings and retention processes.
You can initiate deletion in Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion removes authentication and app records associated with your account, including profile assets, social connections, conversations, reports, histories, location preferences, and references in games, subject to operational processing time and legally permitted exceptions. A limited deletion-request record may remain for approximately 24 hours. We may retain limited information when reasonably necessary for unresolved safety or enforcement matters, fraud prevention, legal obligations, disputes, or backups that expire through ordinary cycles.
7. Your choices and privacy requests
You can edit profile information and privacy settings; control location, photo, and notification permissions through iOS; disable location-based features; block users; manage social connections; delete individual inbox notifications; and delete your account in the app.
You may email info@indiesoccer.app to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information or to ask a privacy question. We may need to verify your identity, and legally permitted exceptions may apply. We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
9. Adults only
indieSoccer is intended only for people age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an underage person has created an account, we may suspend the account and delete the associated information. Email info@indiesoccer.app to report an underage account.
10. United States only
The Service is offered only to users in the United States and is not directed to people outside the United States. Information is processed in the United States and in locations used by our service providers.
11. State privacy disclosures
Depending on your state and applicable law, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, portability, or appeal of a privacy-request decision. Contact us to exercise a request.
California residents can review the categories of information, purposes, and recipient categories described above. indieSoccer does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because there is no commonly accepted way for a native app to interpret browser “Do Not Track” signals, the app does not respond to them. The public website does not include advertising or cross-site tracking code.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. The effective date will be updated, and we will provide additional notice of material changes when required by law.
